What happened
Grain Management announced it has completed the acquisition of T‑Mobile’s nationwide 800 MHz (Band 26) spectrum portfolio, giving Grain approximately 14 MHz of blended low‑band capacity nationwide. The deal had been agreed in May 2025 and Grain said it will now engage partners and pathways to deploy the spectrum consistent with the FCC framework.
Why it matters
This transaction moves a large block of low‑band spectrum into private ownership, accelerating commercial options for private wireless (utilities/critical infrastructure), enterprise networks and next‑generation direct‑to‑device (D2D) satcom use cases. It underscores growing investor appetite for spectrum as an infrastructure asset class and creates new entry points for non‑carrier players in mobile and NTN services.
