What happened
On July 14, 2026 Bezeq said its subsidiary Pelephone signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding to acquire 100% of Wecom Mobile for approximately NIS 265 million on a cash-free, debt-free basis, subject to adjustments and regulatory approvals. The MOU includes a 60-day exclusivity period (extendable) and customary conditions including approvals by the Anti‑Trust Commissioner and Ministry of Communications.
Why it matters
If completed, the purchase would strengthen Pelephone’s retail/MVNO footprint in Israel and signal continued consolidation among national carriers pursuing scale through bolt-on MVNO/brand acquisitions to protect ARPU and spectrum economics.
