What happened
Australian broadband challenger Swoop announced the acquisition of Moose Mobile, a Queensland based MVNO running on the Optus network, in a cash and shares deal worth around A$24 million. The deal gave Swoop an established national mobile subscriber base to pair with its fixed wireless and fibre footprint.
Why it matters
Broadband players buying MVNOs to bundle mobile is a pattern that repeats across markets. Moose gave Swoop an instant mobile base to cross sell into its broadband customers, the same logic that drives cable mobile bundles in the US and Europe.
