What happened

The Australian Government opened the West Coast Tasmania Mobile Capacity Uplift Round under the Mobile Black Spot Program, committing AUD $9.8 million (GST exclusive) and opening applications on 16 July 2026 to boost mobile coverage and capacity in Circular Head, Waratah‑Wynyard and West Coast LGAs.

Why it matters

This targeted grant round provides near‑term public funding to extend resilient mobile coverage in remote/regional areas, creating procurement and deployment opportunities for carriers, tower companies and infrastructure vendors and de‑risking commercial rollouts in sparse markets.
