What happened
Digital Nasional Berhad secured a MYR5.2 billion (US$1.27 billion) syndicated Islamic term financing facility to refinance its Government Guarantee Revolving Credit Facility and fund the next phase of 5G growth. The facility was arranged by Maybank Investment Bank with a consortium of local Islamic banks as joint mandated lead arrangers.
Why it matters
This large, long‑term financing underpins Malaysia’s wholesale 5G rollout and reduces near‑term refinancing risk for the single wholesale network model — a vote of confidence that can accelerate deployments and spectrum utilisation. It also signals continued appetite from regional banks to back large telecom infrastructure financing in emerging markets.
