What happened
U Mobile (brand of TRIMOB LLC, wholly owned by Ukrtelecom) went commercially live on 2026-09-15 offering the "Simka" tariff line (15GB and 60GB monthly plans) with physical SIM and eSIM activation; Ukrtelecom says new customers can purchase/activate service immediately. The launch represents a relaunch/rebrand (phasing out the 3Mob brand) and U Mobile’s Simka 60 is available bundled with Ukrtelecom home fiber in the Optika+Simka offer.
Why it matters
This is a telco-owned MVNO relaunch that signals incumbent fixed-line operators continuing to vertically integrate consumer mobile under separate brands and bundle mobile with fixed broadband; the rebrand also shows operators using MVNO/legal MVNO structures and national roaming to re-enter or reorganise mobile retail without building a full standalone radio footprint. Expect increased converged-bundle competition in Ukraine and more operator-driven MVNO rebrands elsewhere as a low-risk GTM strategy.
