Weekly Telecom Intelligence: September 27–October 3, 2026 Three major carriers formed a joint venture to accelerate satellite direct to device coverage while the FCC opened more than 1,000 MHz of spectrum for satellite services, signaling a material shift toward integrated terrestrial plus space connectivity. The FCC also narrowed NEPA reviews to speed deployments, and AT&T secured more than $3 billion of Corning fiber as it pushes toward 60 million fiber locations by 2030. IoT players saw big moves too, with Onomondo raising over €100 million and Kigen winning SGP.32 v1.3 eSIM certification for automotive use. Collectively these developments compress time to market for satellite and IoT wholesale products, while centralizing commercial control with MNOs.
