Weekly Telecom Intelligence: September 27–October 3, 2026
Three major carriers formed a joint venture to accelerate satellite direct to device coverage while the FCC opened more than 1,000 MHz of spectrum for satellite services, signaling a material shift toward integrated terrestrial plus space connectivity. The FCC also narrowed NEPA reviews to speed deployments, and AT&T secured more than $3 billion of Corning fiber as it pushes toward 60 million fiber locations by 2030. IoT players saw big moves too, with Onomondo raising over €100 million and Kigen winning SGP.32 v1.3 eSIM certification for automotive use. Collectively these developments compress time to market for satellite and IoT wholesale products, while centralizing commercial control with MNOs.
Weekly Telecom Intelligence: September 13–19, 2026
This week the market shifted toward wholesale non terrestrial and layered connectivity with Viasat and Space42 committing up to $1 billion to found Equatys, a shared multi orbit satellite and ground platform. Verizon filed for an FCC experimental license in the 4.8–4.9 GHz band to test AI native sensing and advanced 5G/6G use cases, while the FCC relaunched its Technological Advisory Council to advise on 6G, AI and spectrum sharing. SES and Elveo expanded D2D plans with European manufacturing and supply chain commitments, and Onomondo shipped an SGP.32 compliant eSIM Remote Manager that enables neutral profile control. Together these moves signal accelerating demand for MVNE/MVNA integration services around NTN roaming, eSIM orchestration and new OSS/BSS telemetry requirements.
