Arabsat and Libya Telecom & Technology (LTT) agree HTS satellite partnership

What happened

Saudi operator Arabsat and Libya Telecom and Technology (LTT) signed a strategic partnership to deliver high-throughput satellite (HTS) capacity over Libya. Arabsat will provide capacity on the Arabsat-6A satellite at 30.5°E to support LTT’s current and planned connectivity requirements, and the companies said the agreement creates a platform for further collaboration on service capabilities. For MVNOs, MVNEs and other wholesale players, this expands a non-terrestrial supply path that can be used for rapid market entry, backhaul resilience or satellite-first FWA and enterprise products without building new terrestrial backbone. Practical adoption will hinge on commercial terms, latency and performance trade-offs for consumer services, local licensing and interconnection arrangements, and the ability of MVNE stacks (provisioning, eSIM, billing) to integrate with satellite-delivered links.

XLSmart and ZTE broaden collaboration to AI-driven 5G and FWA

What happened

ZTE and Indonesian operator XLSmart signed a memorandum of understanding, announced 29 July 2026, to extend their existing collaboration into AI-enabled 5G networks and fixed wireless access (FWA). The agreement (signed during MWC Shanghai 2026) covers joint development of end-to-end AI capabilities across RAN, transport, core and operations to enable automation, analytics-driven optimisation and more efficient energy use. ZTE said its AI energy-efficiency tools have delivered measured savings of over 10% in trials, and the MoU also targets faster commercialisation of 5G FWA, CPE innovation and market expansion to support XLSmart’s plans to broaden nationwide 5G coverage and make FWA a growth driver in 2026.

For MVNOs and MVNEs this signals a faster-moving wholesale landscape: AI-driven automation at the MNO layer can reduce operating cost and improve capacity elasticity, which should translate to more flexible wholesale offers and lower barriers for MVNOs to launch value-add broadband services. The emphasis on FWA CPE and go-to-market acceleration creates new product templates MVNEs can package for retail brands (home broadband plus mobile bundles), but it also raises integration work for platform providers—expect demand for AI-ready OSS/BSS APIs, dynamic SLA handling, and support for managed CPE. Operators and MVNEs should also factor vendor lock-in and data governance implications into partnerships centered on vendor AI stacks.
